The sun has gone in and the sky has a pink hew, looks like tomorrow is going to be another glorious day. You wouldn't think it was Autumn. I'm sitting here catching up on the Singapore GP tired as hell as my body decided last night it didn't want to sleep. As you can tell I look like I haven't slept in about 5 years by the picture I took last night. Today has been nice even though I haven't been able to stop yawning.
We went to a garden center just for a browse and some inspiration as to what flowers to plant for next year. Christmas decorations were starting to come out which is mad but I suppose people like to get things early.
So when I can't sleep I practice makeup and take shameless selfies (and delete nearly all of them).
Oh and here is my new dress and hat (and extensions) from River Island, the Rihanna collection. I love it.
As many people know my girl crush is Rihanna, currently she is in Thailand and seriously how stunning does she look. Oh and she has just recorded the 'What Now' video which hopefully should come out soon. If you haven't heard the song, go listen to it!
So the other day I went to my local shopping outlet and bought myself a few items that I thought I would review for you.
1. L'oreal Paris Skin Perfection Day Moisturiser - I needed a good moisturiser to minimise my pores especially around the nose area. This product is very smooth and sinks into the skin very easily, the only downside is that it has a noticeable fragrance (which I don't mind). The price is also very reasonable at only £9.99 which I was surprised at because L'oreal normally isn't that cheap. So I am very happy with my purchase.
2. L'oreal Paris Skin Perfection Cleansing Wipes - I use wipes all the time to take off my makeup before I wash my face, so I thought I would try the new skin perfection range. These took off my makeup really easily and felt soft on the face.
3. Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss in Embellished - I saw this on an advert on Emma Stone and loved it. Its a dark purply/brown colour that gives you a high shine finish. I'm not a huge lipgloss fan but this doesn't feel sticky on the lip and I think it would look great with either a dark smoky eye or hardly any makeup with just thick brows.
4. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wild Orchid - I swatched this colour in the shop and fell in love. Opening the lid it looks like a purple but putting it on its more of a iridescent pink. Its a beautiful colour and stays on for hours. I recommend this colour to anyone looking for a colour to wear for day or night.
5. L'oreal Paris True match Minerals foundation in Golden Ivory - I needed a lighter foundation for the days where I didn't feel like having a full face on and I think this one really fit the bill. Its a handy little pot where you just unscrew the lid and use the brush provided. It doesn't feel too cloggy on the skin and just gives a smooth finish.
6. Radox Berry Burst - My sister smelt this in the shop and told me to smell it and I'm glad I did, its heaven. If you live in England and get the sweets Maoam it smells just like the Strawberry one. I can't wait to use it.
7. Monster's High Scaris Frankie Stein - Okay I realise I'm a 20 year old girl and these are aimed at kids but seriously they are so cool. When I was a kid we only had Barbie's and later on the Bratz dolls. But when I saw this I had to get it, I don't care if its childish she is amazing.
Okay so that is my little haul, I'm sort of happy Summer is over and Autumn is coming (my favourite season).
Other news is I got my ear pierced again (the outer one), I didn't actually hurt but I don't want to start moving it for a few days. I really love this piercing and don't know why I waited so long to get it.
I love getting new piercings and I really want my nose done either on the side or my septum. I like the really small thin rings but I know you have to wait till it is healed to change it. I'm still deciding what to do.
The new Dior ad's have been revealed and Jennifer Lawrence looks incredible. I'm happy she is wearing minimal makeup because she looks stunning. These are my favourite 2 pics of the campaign.
So this past month has been quite a busy one for me. This is the first month in a while that I feel like I'm regaining confidence in going out on a regular basis. I've spent more time with friends and generally feeling like I'm getting back into the swing of things. Finally! I think when you deal with something like anxiety its very easy to isolate yourself and when you see your friends going out and posting pictures on Facebook you tend to wallow in self pity because you know you can't do that. I understand I'm not invited places as my answer is never a definite yes. So that's why I'm always still surprised when my friends actually take time out to spend with me.
So my first favourite of the month goes to my friends! I'm so grateful for the few that have gone out of their way to come round and see me and include me. It's weird but I feel back in the loop and not so alone and out of the picture. This past month I have done and been more places that I have done in any other month and they have been the ones to push me to do that. They are incredibly special to me and thank you will never be enough as they along with some of my family are the ones getting me my life back.
The second favourite of the month is Rimmel's Apocalips: I was browsing on Asos.com and came across these lip products and thought why not. I'm not a huge fan of lip gloss but these are definitely more of a lipstick/stain consistency. They are £6 each and come in a variety of colours. I bought a hot pink called Apocaliptic which pops nicely with my fair skin. My cosuin who is alot darker than me tried it on and it looked so good on her too so I think these colours would be good on any skin tone. I also got Nude Eclipse which is really subtle and would look great with a smoky eye. I really want to try out the other colours especially Galaxy. I you have got any let me know! I love the packaging also, its not made of flimsy material and feels sturdy. The applicator also glides the product on nicely.
Lady Gaga is back!!! Of course I had to include her in my favourites she has been gone for 2 years but has come back even stronger. I wasn't too sure of her song Applause when I first heard it but now I'm addicted. Last night she performed half of her ARTPOP album live at Itunes Music Festival and it was epic. Go to my Tumblr to hear all the songs or click here! The stand out songs for me were Aura, Sex Dreams, Swine and I wanna be with you! Go listen now!
I'm also loving: Jay Z ft Justin Timberlake - 'Holy Grail', Drake - 'Hold on we're going home', Kanye West - 'BLKKK SKKKN HEAD'.
Jared Leto back in films: The trailer for Dallas Buyers Club has been released and it looks so good. Matthew McConaughey is having a great year and this film surely will get him an Oscar nod. It also includes Jennifer Garner and Jared Leto as a woman called Rayon. I've been a fan of Jared Leto's acting for years now and have a full collection of his work. Hopefully he will get the recognition he deserves and get the Supporting actor Oscar because I can't see who else can top his performance (and I haven't even seen the film yet).
Harry Styles is also a favourite this month! Don't judge me!
Rihanna for River Island: Love her collection like all of it. I got my hand of this tshirt dress with a silk wrap around and I love it. It is so comfy and flattering, you can style it with heels or flats. I like it best with a gold chunky chain.
Now for the Misses of August:
Miley Cyrus . . . vmas! That's all I have to say on that topic.
At this second whilst I'm writing this Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy/Pacific Rim) Has been cast as Christian Grey in 'Fifty Shades of Grey' movie. I'm not sure how I feel about this, I love him as an actor but I have a feeling this is just gonna be crap. Can't they leave a book and not make it into a film!
That's it for August then onto September which should be fun as its my sister's birthday and its also getting closer to Christmas.
So I will leave you with a picture of Henna me and my friends did and my Guinea Pig George eating cucumber because its cute!
Starring: Amanda Seyfried, James Franco, Peter Sarsgaard, Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Robert Patrick, Chris Noth, Bobby Cannavale, Adam Brody, Chloe Sevigny, Wes Bentley
Rating: 18/R
Plot: The story of Linda Lovelace, who is used and abused by the porn industry at the behest of her coercive husband, before taking control of her life. (source - IMDB)
My Thoughts: First of all let me start off by saying this is not a biopic or documentary it is a film starring actors reading lines and portraying one opinion of Linda's life. I say this because I know that their is some controversy as to if some facts in Linda's life were real or not. What I mean by this is some people called her a pathological liar and some took her side in situations shown in the film.
I found this film quite sad as here was a girl who met a guy who she thought was a charming and an ideal person to marry and live with. Now from what I saw she wanted out of her home with her parents because lets just say the relationship with her mother wasn't a healthy one. So baring this in mind I think she found Chuck almost as a way of saving her.
The film is from the point of view of Linda so it shows how literally from the day she was married she was controlled to enter and industry she didn't even really know about. One moment in the film Linda is going for an audition and doesn't even know it's for a porn film, I think this showed how naive she was in the beginning.
We see months and years of her life and how Chuck controls her mentally and physically. Their is a real harrowing scene where Chuck basically uses Linda's body to pay off his debts. I think Chuck thought of her as a money deal or as an object not a human being with feelings.
Another scene was where we see Linda reaching out to her mother for help to get out, but her mother says 'Well what did you do to make him angry'. This scene is heart breaking as Linda was opening up to her abusive marriage early on but even her mother used it as a way to say it was her fault. This rejection probably made her feel like she deserved to suffer that, and for the rest of her time with him she didn't tell anyone of the horror that she was going through.
I got from this film that Linda lost everything even herself. She had no choices and when she did voice her opinion she was punished for it and even after she got out of the industry she could never really move on and people defined her for something she hated.
I loved the 70s feel of the film and I thought Amanda Seyfried did a really well in portraying this character. This is probably the most stripped back (no pun intended) I have ever seen her. The fashion was so cool and really fitted well in the film and I loved Seyfried's hair/wig throughout, makes me want to get a perm!
If you are looking for a film with nudity and sex and all that jazz this film isn't for you (I suggest going to watch the original Deep Throat), their is hardly any nudity in it at all as that isn't what the film is about. Before watching this I didn't know much about Linda's life but from what I gather she has some good moments before her death especially with her children and her work as an activist, but I cannot help but wonder that she was probably always haunted by her past.
Already August! This year is going so fast. Not much happened in July except the soaring English heat, but I did manage to purchase some items that I thought I would review for you.
River Island have some good deals in the sale section so go check it out and treat yourself to something. As I haven't had money in a while I have missed out on Rihanna's collections but their is still a few items left which I went and purchased.
Clothes from the Rihanna Collection:
Barely there Stiletto sandals in Black - £80 / Love these so much just the right height and I love the gold buckle.
Black tied T-Shirt £25 / This was longer than appeared on the picture which I'm glad about. Also the material is really light weight and soft.
Black crochet midi skirt £10 / Now Rihanna wore this with just her bikini on underneath which is fine if you look like Rihanna. I however just put a simple black bodycon dress underneath.
Grey knot front cropped cami top £7 / This is a lot more cropped than the picture shows but I love the loose material and anything high waisted will look good with this.
Grey marl knot front cropped T-shirt £10 / This is a slouchy loose top and can be dressed up or down love it.
Grey thigh split sweat maxi skirt £20 / This skirt is lovely and even though I'm not a fan of showing my legs it doesn't go over the top and this can also be dressed up or down.
So far I'm super impressed by Rihanna's collection, it's simple but yet so stylish. I can't wait for more!!
Accessories:
Rose gold tone curb chain necklace £8 / I've wanted a chain like this for a while but wasn't going to fork out for it so this is a cheap alternative, yes it feels like plastic but from a far no one is none the wiser!
Gold tone scarab beetle repeat bracelet £10 / I feel in love with this when I saw it on the website as I love anything Egyptian, it's certainly a statement piece.
Gold tone triangle finger top midi pack £2 / I got the size M which will fit on my index finger's but next time I will get L because I love midi rings and for £2 it's so worth getting a few.
Gold tone diamante kitten ears headband £5 / I first saw a similar pair in Taylor Swift's video '22' and thought they looked super cute. I'm not a fan of her's but I had to get myself them and I love them so much.
I'm really pleased with my summer buy's, let me know in the comment's what your favourite item was for the summer.
Over the past few months I have had no motivation to blog at all, to be honest I had no motivation to do anything at all. But I have put a lot of time into my blog and it would be a shame to let all that go to waste. So I have kicked myself in the bum and have made a list of things I want to blog about in the coming weeks.
I suppose I will update you on my going's on. I have started more therapy called CBT (Cognitive Behavioual Therapy) that I have to go to every week for my anxiety issues. If you don't know what it is google it :) I wrote a post of my anxiety a year ago you can click here to go to it.
I have become more confident in the last year but I still struggle with going out, so it sucks to miss out on all my friends parties and trips out. I am actually dropping the dose of my tablets to 20mg so I can get the best out of the therapy. She is trying me on something called graduated exposure where by you slowly introduce doing things, that normally you would run away from. So for me I really want to be able to get on public transport to go out, but at the moment I can't without being so anxious. Therefore my first step would be sitting at the bus stop for 10 mins and only when i'm comfortable doing that we move onto the next step which is staying at the bus stop at a peak time for 15 mins. Now to any normal person this sounds silly but to someone with anxiety you have to do these things so that next time instead of running away from a situation you stay there and fight the anxiety. Don't get me wrong it's so awkward leaving a bus stop after 10 mins, to any other person they are probably thinking what the hell is she doing but I just have to get over that and do it. This therapy is really up to you, you get out what you put in.
What else have I been up to?? Not much is the answer! Just catching up on all my favourite TV shows like True Blood and Teen Wolf. Is anyone been fangirling (by that I mean hysterically crying at their gorgeous faces) at the comic con pictures on Tumblr ahh I wish I was there.
Rihanna has grey hair! I had light grey hair about 2 years ago and I loved it but she has gone on the more dark grey side. Any day now you will see a bunch of girls sporting this hair colour (yes that probably includes me). It shows she can pull off any colour she wants. I love it! Also look out for her new perfume Rouge coming soon.
My summer song this week is definitely Stooshe 'My Man Music', It's fun and has a little reggae vibe which I love check it out!
The weather in England has been hot as balls. I'm more of an Autumn/Fall person anyway and I like being cold so for it to be as hot as Jamaica is killing me. Don't get me wrong I love to go on a hot holiday and lounge around eating ice cream and dipping in the pool but you can't do that in England! This is the hottest summer I can remember it's mad!
Right I'm off to stick my head in the freezer, leave me any comments and I will reply as soon as I can.
Oh and My Twitter and Tumblr buttons work (thank the lord!) so follow me their as well lovelies!
Wish I was here right now the weather in England at the moment is horrible.
This month has flown by I can't really believe we are half way through 2013 and only 5 months till Christmas. I better start stocking up on presents. I haven't blogged at all this past month as I hit sort of a wall with lack of motivation to do anything. So don't worry you haven't missed anything.
I'm looking forward to July though, getting back to blogging and watching a list of films that I never got round to seeing when released.
Comment me with your plans for this month.
Favourites:
'If being sane is thinking there's something wrong with being different . . . I'd rather be completely f*cking mental'. - Angelina Jolie. Quote to live by.
Every year at the end of June I tend to enter a comatose'd state on the couch watching the wonderful Wimbledon. I'm kinda happy most of the big guns have been knocked out because then it gives the underdogs a chance to shine and maybe Andy Murray might even win!! (I have probably just jinxed us haha).
Teen Wolf is back, no not for us UK viewers because Sky need to pull their finger out their arse but over in America it has been back for 4 weeks. Of course I couldn't wait, after seeing all the gifs on Tumblr I had to stream it online and once you start by just watching the first episode you have to continue watching it every week. The inter-web loves to tease me with spoilers and I can't help myself. I have always been a huge Stiles fan and I still love him but a new love of mine has emerged, Issac Lahey. Played by the beautiful Brit Daniel Sharman his chiseled jaw and tall stature has me head over heels. He is my ideal man!
I saw the film Stoker after hearing really good reviews and I found it creepy and twisted but beautifully dark. I won't say too much here as I will be doing a review later this week.
Onto music, I love Neon Hitch's song 'Midnight Sun', her voice just draws you in I can tell she is going to have a huge career in the upcoming future. You can listen to that songhere!
I also watched Mumford and Sons closing set at Glastonbury, it was incredible and I wish I was there. They were definitely my highlight of the festival. You have to watch their whole sethere!Sorry it's not the best quality I couldn't find a better one on Youtube.
In June Leonardo DiCaprio's new trailer came out for the film The Wolf of Wall Street. It looks so good and actually really funny. I hope DiCaprio wins an Oscar soon or I will pull my hair out.
I also invested in a new Avon eyeliner this month which I love a lot. It is the Avon glimmerstick cosmic eyeliner in Moonlit Brown. I prefer Brown's right now over black's for the eye as I like it not so defined but a smoked out look. I recommend this eyeliner as it's long wearing and is so worth the money. It also has blue glitter specs for instant drama and an instant glam look.
Order online for yours now!
Ok so this isn't a favourite from June as I only saw it this morning but how good did Rihanna look today in Paris for a Chanel show. I love her hair this colour it suits her so much ahhh I'm in love. Why can't I look like that.
June Misses:
June wasn't too bad except the changing weather and the lack of funds. The only things I could think of is my lack of hair growth. It seems like it has come to a stand still it's extremely annoying. It's at a fluffy stage and doesn't want to sit in either direction. I can't wait till I can tie it up and curl it. I don't want it super long just a cute bob would be nice.
Also I am in very much need of an Iphone, my Blackberry's back button is starting to jam and I really am in need of Instagram. So if anyone would like to donate an Iphone to me that would be great haha!
